Trihalomethanes

A picture is worth a thousand words…

…but I will start you off with the first 100.

Tri-Halo-Methane.

It is literally the by-product of a kid peeing in a public swimming pool.  Seriously.

The normal water treatment process is as follows:

Get the water.
Strain out any big floaters.
Add some chemicals to nuke the bacteria.
Filter the chemicals (and by-products) out.
Consume.

Apparently it’s okay to ignore some steps.  The Trihalomethane count is actually so high that you are warned not to take a bath in it.  Showers are okay though…  How does that make sense!?  Potable water is provided, but it’s only filtered so far.  I use (and recommend to all) a filter on everything.
